Colom opened on Carrer de Colom in autumn 2025 and went straight onto my list of Palma favourites — an impressive sprint for a shop devoted to buying slowly.
This is a large, multi-level fashion and lifestyle store with room to breathe. The selection favours well-made clothes and accessories that are meant to last longer than a holiday mood. It is not bargain shopping, and it does not pretend to be. I think of it as fewer purchases, better choices and pieces I will still be pleased to see when the credit-card bill has become a distant memory.
The brand mix changes, but names such as A.P.C., Ami Paris, Filippa K, By Malene Birger, Hereu and Comme des Garçons Play give a fair sense of the territory: contemporary, international and carefully edited rather than piled high. The team behind Colom includes Suso Ramos, co-founder of Palma's La Principal, so the two shops share some family DNA without being identical twins.
Then there is the café, run by Rosevelvet, with specialty coffee, sourdough pastries and easy food. This is good news for everyone, including the person who has reached their natural limit for looking at trousers. My practical advice is to place the non-shopper in the café while the other tries things on — or reverse the roles. PalmaStories does not enforce household casting.
Colom works for me because it lets shopping become an outing rather than a mission. I can browse a floor, have coffee, reconsider the jacket and go back upstairs. Some relationships are held together by love; others by specialty coffee and a strategically placed chair. I am not judging.
