I came for the clothes. Somebody found coffee.

Colom opened on Carrer de Colom in autumn 2025 and became one of my Palma favourites very quickly. It is big, spread over several levels, and I like that I can take my time.

The clothes are not cheap, and there is no point pretending otherwise. I come here to look at fewer, better-made things and decide whether one of them is worth taking home. I would rather leave with one thing I really love than several things I do not need.

The labels change, but A.P.C., Ami Paris, Filippa K, By Malene Birger, Hereu and Comme des Garçons Play give you the general direction. Colom is connected to La Principal through co-founder Suso Ramos, although the two shops do not feel like copies of each other.

And then there is the Rosevelvet café, with specialty coffee, pastries and something easy to eat. This is where JJ comes in. He is very good at being the stoic, supportive husband while I look at clothes, but even stoicism has limits. My preferred arrangement is to leave him with a coffee and continue in peace. If they happen to have a caña, I consider that fair compensation.

That is why Colom works for me. I can take my time, reconsider something and go back for another look. Nobody has to pretend that looking at trousers is equally interesting to both of us.
